Buffaload MBG Team cycle 23 miles around Rutland Water for the Poppy Appeal

On Saturday 23 October seven Buffaload colleagues and two friends met at Rutland Water at 9am for our Poppy Appeal fundraiser.

In October this year we established Buffaload MBG Team, our sports and social group. The purpose of the group is to get fit and have fun! If there can be some charity fundraising involved that is good too!

On Saturday the group cycled 23 miles around the reservoir and Hambleton Peninsula.

There was a lot of uphill and it was way harder than any of us  expected!

Some team members were on their last legs (Jacqueline), there were thrills and spills (spills by Demi on the very steep downhill at Lyndon Top), Mike suffered painful cycle seat issues and Jeanette, Gary, Egis, Ineta and Kevin were total powerhouses! Harvey deployed a secret weapon and went round like a rocket!

The team raised £430 in sponsorship for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

We also had poppy collection boxes at three of our depots; Crewe, Ellington and Newark, and we donated to the Poppy Appeal for truck poppies for the Volvo trucks which joined Buffaload fleet in 2020.

Our total donation to The Poppy Appeal was £878 and we are very proud of that.

Demi’s great video of the event can be seen on our YouTube channel, Buffaload Tv here:
